Final Post

And as another year is over, college all finishing up its time to sum up or reflect over the year.

The civic engagement module was an eye opener, just to see what other peoples thoughts are on the situation and their views.  I enjoyed the cornmarket project but not as much as I thought I would.  I did think i was going to be learning screen printing and to my disappointment we ended up having a art class every friday which is not what i signed up for but at the very end it was ok but something i feel i would not be doing in the future.

all and all I did enjoy bits of it but some of it let me down.

thats all for now.

Week 5 Lollypops!

Well today was another success

We stuck sticks and pasta together with a glue gun!!

Cracked some jokes and lots of chatting as always!

The team was split in two today as some of the gang wanted to learn how to cook, so off they went to the kitchen to learn how to cook bread and water. And the rest of us went off to the Workshop for some hard work …..

We used glue guns to stick pasta, spaghetti and lollypop sticks ( quiet colourful ones actually) together to build what ever our imagination said.  We kinda had a them that what ever we built could go with our clay creations from previous weeks so because a lot of people made mushrooms and kinda fantasy stuff.. We kinda said how about a few houses to go with the mushrooms and heads and little people.  set a beachy fantasy scene with colourful houses and straw houses and mushrooms and boats and stuff and when its all complete we could place it in the garden and photograph it..

well what ever we do it is always fun.

next week we will sadly miss it due to a lovely gubbly exam .. oh the excitment

Thats all for now no more group sessions till the 17 April then..

Bye Bye for now

Week 4 Clay modelling (experts)

Today was a success we all made some new clay sculptures and sure the project gang are experts at it at this stage..

Lots of coffee and tea drank and also lots of chatting, some very interesting stories makes you want to chat longer.  And when more than half of them ask you what day are you coming back next week? it makes you feel like they must of enjoyed it well a least a little bit

Here’s hoping next week is as fun as this week !!!

cherrio for now!

Week 2&3 : Missing in action

Well due to life I unfortunately missed 2 weeks but its all ok because my wonderful groupies took care of it.  And they also did a wonderful job with clay sculptures and painting their finished pieces.

When i did get down to the project gang to have a look at all their master pieces, their was a very prominent theme …. mushrooms (all shapes and sizes).

They all looked very interesting.

cant wait to get stuck in myself when i return for week 5

Thats all for now

talk soon or type soon should i say

Week 2: Clay moudling

So unfortunately I had to miss this week due to kids mid-term. (no school, no fun, mammy gotta do mammy jobs). But the feedback was all good and sounded like a lotta fun. Not to much fun missing out. 😦

The group got really involved in creating objects outta clay, and displaying their finished ideas in the garden for all to see.  They actually looked really good and add a special touch to the garden.

Next week going for some more clay projects, lets hope they turn out to be as good as last week.

Thats all for this week.

Week 1: Egg Drop!

Well hello fellow bloggers

Today started off so scary and ended with massive smiles. I am so glad to be part of a cool, new, engaging, interesting project.  At first i was so worried about what was going to happen and how to enter into an already formed group of people that know each other and have been friends for a while.. and me the newbee showing up I was so apprehensive… but i couldn’t of been more wrong as i was made feel so welcome and part of group that i only just met… within minutes not even hours I felt at ease, happy and excited and also made me feel good..

So the first group get-to-gether went off well

It was a very very “eggcellent” day, we had right laugh and the jokes were “cracking” we all couldn’t get enough of the egg gags out. We all thought we were so funny! suppose you had to be there.. but the fun was mighty and I feel everyone felt the same.  It went so well that one person asked “what’s the plan for tomorrow”… Saturday (our day off)! well if people want to come in on a Saturday we must of done something right.

The egg drop was a little project that a group of us done in first year in college.  We thought that this would make for a great ice breaker for us to  get involved with a completely new group of strangers and help us get to know them and also it is enjoyable for all ages and genders.  And by god was it a success it brings out everyones competitive side, funny side and also makes for new conversation and getting to know each other was a whole lot easier.

So thats all for this week lets hope next week is just as much fun

(ps: Next week Clay moulding!)

Our first day!

Today was a really good day. The team sat down together with the other team members from the project and discussed our options.  I took a lot away with me to be open minded have little expectations and be as creative as possible.  So overall our ideas were very good but noting in concrete just yet but hopefully over the next few weeks, we will find a path to follow and I’m sure there will be lots of off road adventures and maybe a few potholes to jump over and maybe even a hill to climb, the unknown makes it more exciting and interesting.  Next week we should know a little bit more and hopefully meet more of our team that I hope will be big and cheerful and lots of laughs and smiles.

Thats all till next time

Cya then

A new porject.

Today is the start of a new project or challenge as i like to think of them, because sometimes projects become more like challenges, not just about learning something new.  They become challenging on so many levels but it is always the challenge that leaves you feeling you have learnt something new.

The new challenge is to go out and work in the community, helping people help themselves with my skills (if i have any) and their enthusiasm we should create something new.  There are a few possibilities but the one that most appeals to me is “The Cornmarket Project”.

Thats all for now
